Pretty Porto. ✨ Oenophiles have been in on the secret of Porto for years, but creative types have been flocking here lately, thanks to the city's stunning architecture and public art. Can’t-miss spots include the ornate Lello bookshop, which reportedly inspired J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, and Leça da Palmeira’s Piscinas de Marés (Tidal Pools), a concrete swimming complex juxtaposed against Porto's famous beaches and granite coastline. Porto is on our list of the most beautiful cities in Europe—click the link in bio to take a little visit to all 20 of them, then come back and tell us a memory you made in one of them. 👇#StillATraveler 📷: @andreannu Pretty Porto. ✨ Oenophiles have been in on the secret of Porto for years, but creative types have been flocking here lately, thanks to the city's stunning architecture and public art. A visit to New York City is a multi-sensory experience: It's staring wide-eyed at the historic architecture, from the Flatiron Building to the New York Stock Exchange. It's the feel of grass beneath your feet (and the smell of roasted nuts) in Central Park. It's the art of the Met, the MoMa, and the Frick. It's the sight of hundreds of thousands of people of all backgrounds walking the city streets with heads held high. But in a city this fast-paced and dynamic, nothing stays the same for long. (Current situation, case in point.) We gathered some vintage photos that show just how much the city has changed over the past 130 years—we're talking horse-drawn carriages in the 1890s, ticker tape parades in the 1940s, and Wall Street madness in the 1980s. 🌆 Link in bio to take a time-traveling trip through one of the world's greatest cities. 📷: @joethommas A visit to New York City is a multi-sensory experience: It's staring wide-eyed at the historic architecture, from the Flatiron Building to the New York Stock Exchange. As lockdown eases across Italy, properties from the Amalfi Coast to Rome are preparing for a very different summer. When Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced that the country would reopen to international tourism as soon as June 3, properties across the peninsula began preparing for a season largely dictated by a drastic decline in international travelers. “Business-wise it will be very slow. But we just have to be sure guests are safe and taken care of. We have to be more hospitable than ever. We have been through this together.” Find out how resorts and hotels in Italy are gearing up for a socially distanced summer at the link in bio. 📷: @andreannu As lockdown eases across Italy, properties from the Amalfi Coast to Rome are preparing for a very different summer. Beloved for its endless green hills and fascinating history, Edinburgh looks great in all seasons. Aside from its beautiful Gothic buildings, cobblestoned Royal Mile, and 12th-century castle keeping watch on a hilltop, it also happens to have an extinct volcano within its parameters. We think it’s one of the most beautiful cities in the world. 😍 See our whole list (from Amsterdam to Queenstown) at the link in bio. 📷: @a_ontheroad Beloved for its endless green hills and fascinating history, Edinburgh looks great in all seasons. As properties reopen, many are rethinking the hotel experience to address safety concerns and create confidence in travelers. Hotels will likely have less people, more privacy, and the cleanest rooms around. But beloved aspects, like the lobby bar, could disappear too. At the link in bio, read about a few ways in which we can expect hotels—whether urban properties with swinging social spaces or boutique country escapes—to change as reopening begins, from private spa time to DIY happy hour kits. 📷: @inbedwith.me As properties reopen, many are rethinking the hotel experience to address safety concerns and create confidence in travelers. There’s no time like the present to rediscover the wind-in-your-hair thrill and freedom of a bicycle, especially these days, when big getaways and elaborate travel aren’t options. 🚲 Cycling allows you to quietly connect to your own ecosystem—you are part of the landscape rather than merely moving through it. You’ll notice architecture, scenery, and wildlife you never knew were just a few miles from home. No one bike is perfect for every kind of riding, but there’s absolutely something out there for everyone, so we gathered up the best bikes for every type of ride. #2020HotList feature 🔥 These wellness retreats fulfill the fundamental promise of hotels: to make people feel better when they leave than when they arrived. (1) At Hoshinoya Guguan, in the hot-spring-rich central range of Taiwan, suites come with private soaking tubs. (2) A hike from the serene Taj Rishikesh Resort & Spa, in the forested foothills of the Himalayas, leads through a grassy valley to the Hindu pilgrimage town the hotel is named for. (3) Deeper in those same mountains, Six Senses has unrolled a five-property circuit in the Kingdom of Bhutan. (4) Hawaii’s first high-end wellness destination, Sensei Lanai overlooks the pine-dense Koloiki Ridge and has beautiful gardens full of banyan trees, birds of paradise, and gardenias. ✨ When we do start to travel again, these are exactly the types of places that will reset you for the year ahead—learn more about them at the link in bio. #2020HotList feature 🔥 These wellness retreats fulfill the fundamental promise of hotels: to make people feel better when they leave than when they arrived. The ability to move freely around the world is a core part of living in a just society. As the horrific events of the last week demonstrate, systemic racism means that many people of color do not have the privilege of traveling, or even living, without risk.
